Dr Ingrid Cilliers first completed an Agricultural degree before studying Veterinary Science. After graduating from Onderstepoort in 1996 she joined a large equine practice in Johannesburg, did some locums in the UK, and started an ambulatory equine practice in the eastern parts of Pretoria. She returned to Onderstepoort to specialise in Equine Surgery. During this time she was employed as a senior lecturer in Equine surgery. After completing her specialist degree she established her own referral facility known as Canterbury Vet Clinic in 2011. Ingrid used to be a keen rider and has done dressage, show jumping and eventing. She is accompanied daily by her loyal four-legged friends Tiggy and Tot.
Dr Fleur Couturier grew up in Normandy, France. Fleur started riding at the age of six and knew she was destined to be an Equine Veterinarian. Fleur went on to study Veterinary Science at Oniris Veterinary School in Nantes, France. After her studies she completed an Equine Internship at OVS and then worked in a mixed practice in France for a year before she and her partner (both vets) moved to South Africa. Dr Fleur Couturier joined Canterbury Vet Clinic in the last quarter of 2018. She has been using her time off to travel and get to know South Africa better.
Front Office Staff
Andreia Ho-Tong runs the front desk and assists with all client queries, accounts and ordering of stock. She also assists Dr Cilliers in theatre. Andreia qualified in Equine Sciences in 2007 from Tshwane University of Technology. She completed her practical year at Alzu Weltmeyer Stud & Stables and went on to obtain her BCom Internal Auditing degree. In her final year of studies she was offered a position at Deloitte starting in January 2012 which she accepted. Her passion lies in the Equine field where she competed in a number of disciplines namely Dressage, Equitation, Show Jumping and Showing. Having always been a sporty person, she represented her school and Province in basketball, waterpolo and horse riding. She enjoys travelling as well as the outdoors and country life, spending as much time as possible with her horse when not at work.
Peter Berger, our groom is always helpful and accomodating. He assists regularly with colics after hours and shows great compassion and empathy with the patients and clients.
Thomas recently joined us and is showing a dedication to his work. In addition to helping with the practice they also ensure that the premises and stables are kept clean and hygienic.
